The following routes were not flown on the "Odessa" trip but are documented here anyway.

Hania (Greece) to Constanta (Romania)

LGSA MIL A10 KEA R20 IMR G80 BIG G8 GOTAN A4 BKZ G123 REVDA L743 MARIR LRCK
Alternate: Tulcea LRTC
Lowest valid route level FL120
Distance: 565nm GC, 687nm airways
Flight time: 4:30 hours

The stop at Constanta was necessary because Odessa has no avgas. Constanta seems to be a real little hub of general aviation in Romania.

There are very few alternates in this area where there is avgas so a diversion due to weather, and one significantly short of the destination or the filed alternate, was likely to leave the aircraft stranded and requiring the organisation of a shipment of avgas in drums. An interesting alternate in the far NE corner of Greece, Thessaloniki LGTS, has another stupid 24hr PPR requirement for international flights.

Constanta (Romania) to Odessa (Ukraine)

Odessa is also referred to locally as Odesa.

The airport proved to be exceptionally difficult to contact so expecting any great "services" there would have been foolhardy. All I managed to find out, through an interminable series of faxes, is that no prior notification is required, they have no avgas, and there is no problem with a US registered aircraft unless it is government or military in which case a diplomatic clearance is required....

LRCK CETUL N743 IRMAL G107 BUNAG UKOO

Distance: 154nm GC, 166nm airways
Flight time: 1:00 hours

Odessa (Ukraine) to Kosice (Slovakia)

UKOO SURAP L140 BCU L623 LASOT W425 KSC R232 KEKED LZKZ
Alternate: Poprad/Tatry LZTT
Lowest valid route level FL110
Distance: 404nm GC, 446nm airways
Flight time: 3:00 hours

Kosice was initially chosen as primarily a fuel stop, since we will have arrived at Odessa with 1 hour's fuel used up, and the onward flight to Prague would most likely have a headwind. The airport office is completely switched on and seems to be well organised, with instant email communication and straight answers. The city of Kosice sounds very interesting and will be well worth a visit at some future date.

Kosice (Slovakia) to Prague (Czech Republic)

LZKZ DEDIS A42 NIT M748 BODAL LKPR
Alternate: Vodochody LKVO
Lowest valid route level FL060
Distance: 285nm GC, 314nm airways
Flight time: 2:00 hours

Of course, Prague is well known and I have been there before. It is perhaps the most interesting European city. The airport is totally organised and efficient, with everything happening within minutes and no hassles.
