C. I've installed drivers for the ImageMate CompactFlash USB (model SDDR-31) and connected it to my computer, but my system locks up and a blue screen
appears with the message: " A fatal exception OE has occurred at
0028:C16ED46E in module VXC APIX(01)...The application will be terminated"
What's going on?
You probably have Adaptec(R) Easy CD Creator(TM) version 3.5, 4.0 or 4.1
installed on your system. This software probably came with your Iomega(R),
HP(R), or other branded CD RW drive.
The Easy CD Creator program uses certain APIX.vxd functions that are also
incorporated into Windows 98. This alone is not a problem. However, when CD
Creator is installed, it renames Microsoft's APIX files.
When these files are renamed, compatibility issues arise between CD Creator
and other peripherals (such as ImageMate) that use the APIX functions.
To rectify the problem, please follow the instructions below.
Easy CD Creator v3.5 Users:
1. Unplug the ImageMate from your computer.
2. Download the patch from Adaptec:
http://www.adaptec.com/support/advisor/cdrupdates/ecdc35cdcd25drecupd.html
3. Restart your computer with ImageMate reattached.
Easy CD Creator v4.0/4.1 Users:
1. Unplug the ImageMate from your computer.
2. Upgrade to Easy CD Creator v4.02. Click on the following link to
download:
http://www.adaptec.com/support/advisor/cdrupdates/ecdc401.html
3. Install the new version on your system (do not attach the ImageMate yet).
4. Copy "REN_APIX.BAT" file from ImageMate Installation CD to your hard drive.
5. Go to where you saved the REN_APIX file and run it by double clicking on
the file.
6. Shutdown the computer.
7. Attach the ImageMate and restart the computer.
Both your ImageMate and your Easy CD Creator software should function
correctly.
D. Insert ImageMate into USB slot of a Windows 2000 system. If a screen
"File Needed" with text "The file USBAUTH.SYS on (unknown)
is needed, type in "C:\" into the "Copy files from" box.
The ImageMate will be recognized as "Removable Disk" icon in "My Computer".
